Corrie bosses had previously confirmed that Daisy would be targeted by an acid attack on her wedding day, but the revelation that Ryan was the victim was a huge shock.

Speaking ahead of the episodes’ broadcast, actor Ryan Prescott admitted that viewers will see the aftermath of Ryan’s attack in upcoming episodes, after Daisy sprung into action to try and prevent the acid from causing longterm damage.

He told MailOnline and other media: ‘It takes a second couple of seconds for sulphuric acid, which it is in this case, to actually set into the facial tissue and start eroding.

‘There was a moment that we shot where Ryan kind of gathers that this isn’t what he would have assumed.

‘Although it went straight into the action pretty much on the final edit, so we did miss a little bit of that.

‘Just an edge of reality that people probably don’t need to see, and there’s always a time restriction on these things. So the edit was fantastic. They did everything they could.

‘To be honest, I think. I think that he would probably thought it was like vodka or something in the moment, mainly because I think it’s it’s very difficult to.

‘This level of hate and violence and and we don’t, I think it’s we don’t really like to look at these things you know for the fact that one person could do this to another person in society, we kind of tend to turn away from it and we don’t like to look at them head on because it’s scary.

‘And it should scare us because these things are scary, you know? But that’s why we wanted to do this storyline in the first place.

‘Like we’ve learned through the research, one of the random facts that I found was that there was 300 acid attacks in Manchester in 2022 alone, you know, not televised, not in any mainstream media or any media platform whatsoever for multiple reasons obviously. But it just shows that it’s way more prevalent than you expect.’

Asked how Ryan reactions in the aftermatch of the attack, the actor added: ‘I think by this point he starting to see that his life is never gonna be the same again, in which he’s kind of trying to reach out and clutch onto where whatever he can within his life, mainly the relationships within his life that will allow him to kind of deny this reality, one of them being alia, his relationship with alya, this newfound possibility with this new love interest crystal.

‘Out of him wanting to go and live the life he always wanted in Ibiza and continue with his DJ career and as he sees these things kind of slipping away, he naturally tries to reach out, and try and grab hold of them in desperation.

‘But I think he knows. I think. I think as soon as something like this happens, there are stages of acceptance and denial. Slowly, bit by bit, he starts to understand the gravity of his wounds and what’s happened.’

Asked whether Ryan will hold any resentment towards Daisy, he added: ‘No, he knows it’s not her fault. He knows it’s and she’s been so consistent with his aid.

‘And she was the reason why he actually ended up in hospital in the first place and saving most of his face, and so I don’t think he has any, you know, resentment toward Daisy. I think if he reserves any, it’s for Justin.

‘But even still, on some level, I think Ryan starts to understand that these things are usually bigger than anyone. But if he has any blame, it’s definitely reserved for Justin.’

Coronation Street continues on Wednesday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
