It comes after it was revealed that Jared will star in the upcoming sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy.
He has been long attached to the legacy sequel, titled Tron: Ares, after it was reported in 2017 that he would be starring in a Tron film as new character Ares.
Disney, which is producing the film, is reportedly in talks with director Joachim Rønning – who worked on Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil – to helm the film, according to Deadline.
A crew is reportedly being assembled for the big-budget production, which is set to begin production in Vancouver, Canada, in August of this year.
The film series began with the original 1982 Tron, which starred Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner and David Warner.
It was a hit with critics and became influential due to its advanced visual effects, but its modest box office was considered a disappointment by Disney.
Jeff played a video game developer and programmer who hacks into a powerful new virtual world in hopes of finding proof that an executive at his company has been stealing his work for years.
After the experimental virtual world scans his body and uploads it as a new program, he’s forced to compete in a series of deadly games.
He returned in 2010 for Tron: Legacy, with Garrett Hedlund playing his son who investigates his father’s disappearance by going into the much more advanced digital world.

Olivia Wilde was also featured in the film but it’s unclear if any of Tron: Legacy’s main cast will return.
The sequel was a commercial hit, grossing $400million against a $170million budget, but initial plans to make a third film were scuttled until the 2017 news of Jared’s potential involvement.
Lion director Garth Davis was reported to be onboard as director for the new sequel in August 2020 by Deadline, but he appears to have moved on since then.
Jared appears to have struck up a strong relationship with Disney, as he will next appear in its Haunted Mansion movie.
