Jeremy Clarkson admits he’s been enduring sleepless nights following MULTIPLE ‘gut-wrenching’ deaths on his Diddly Squat Farm

Jeremy Clarkson has confessed he’s been enduring sleepless nights following multiple ‘gut-wrenching’ deaths on his Diddly Squat Farm.

The broadcaster-turned-farmer, 62, revealed his anguish over sending seven of his beloved pigs to the slaughterhouse, who had been residing on his estate in Chipping Norton.

During a previous episode of his Amazon Prime series, Clarkson’s Farm, his tough guy persona crumbled as he took three sheep to the abattoir.

Crying in his car, he said: ‘They’d been ruinously expensive. But these belligerent, sex-mad, illness machines had brought a lot of joy to the farm.

‘I’d grown to love having them around,’ Jeremy added – but was later seen eating them in a shepherd’s pie.

But with the dreaded time looming again, he wrote in The Sunday Times: ‘I can never sleep properly the night before they go, and all the way to the slaughterhouse I have what feels like a hot cricket ball in the pit of my stomach.

‘And then when it’s finally time to say goodbye, I always become a little bit unmanly. I know that I’m trying to be a farmer and that this is what farmers do. And I know I will enjoy the bacon and ham and pork chops that result.

‘But it’s not easy, taking seven happy, healthy pigs from their woodland home to their deaths. Especially as pig prices are currently so low I’ll almost certainly end up making a loss on the transaction.’

Jeremy must have written his latest column abroad as he recently posed with a meerkat on his head during a getaway to Botswana with his partner Lisa Hogan, 50.

‘Today, I was mostly a human look-out post,’ Jeremy – who was wearing a brown leather jacket in the amusing shot – joked in his caption.

His trip to the Southern African country got off to a rather bumpy start as he experienced ‘a bit of turbulence’ on the way there.

Filming a selfie-style video while on a private jet, he shouted, ‘Get the ludes!’ a reference to the famous scene in The Wolf Of Wall Street.

This caused his girlfriend, a former artist and model, to burst into laughter.
