What You Need to Know About FiberSense Australia

FiberSense Australia has been covered by the media a lot lately. You may have not heard of it if you do not follow the industry of security and sensory systems. What FiberSense managed to achieve is nothing short of revolutionary as it brought new advancement in a field that has seen very little progress over the past few years. According to experts, what FiberSense Australia achieved in the field of sensory detection and mapping can be considered a sixth sense. The way it works is easy to understand even for those without expertise in the domain.

What is FiberSense?

FiberSense Australia is a company that was founded by Dr. Mark Englund. The company’s main activity so far has been developing new sensory detection systems. It aims to commercialize a new form of detection systems using optic fiber infrastructure. According to company claims, their technology is superior to the three existing sensory systems that remained unchanged for decades, referring to RADAR, SONDAR, and LIDAR. Their new technology is called VIDAR.

What is VIDAR?

The company developed VIDAR technology. VIDAR uses existing optic fiber infrastructure to detect even the smallest vibrations from nearby objects. The vibrations detected are analyzed by a central platform that converts the signals into a digital format and using artificial intelligence, it interprets the data. Everything is managed under a platform named SuperSoniQ, also developed by FiberSense, designed to make it easier to map and manage the information received by the VIDAR system, transforming it into a visual format that is easier to interpret by a human being.

VIDAR, as described by FiberSense Australia, is a technology that combines some of the technology used in RADAR and SONAR technology. Unlike the other two, VIDAR sensory systems can be used anywhere as long as there is an optic fiber infrastructure existing in the areas. This makes it most valuable in crowded cities and towns that already have dense optic fiber infrastructure.

Applications

The technology developed by FiberSense Australia can capture vibrations from nearby objects that can be cars, pedestrians, animals, drills, falling objects, and more. These vibrations can be transformed into information that can prove to be valuable in certain industries. It can help different companies manage their infrastructure or deal with events in a much more efficient manner.

An example of how FiberSense Australia would help certain industries is the management of sewage pipes. The technology can help monitor vibrations and detect leaks or floods. Another example is emergency assistance systems. The system can be used to accurately detect the location of an incident and help provide real-time information about what happened and how. This information helps first responders act faster and can help them be better prepared for what is happening at the scene of an incident.

According to a recent PR release, FiberSense Australia stated that its main focus in the short term is to expand its portfolio into asset protection such as road safety and infrastructure. This includes traffic analysis, roadworks, traffic incidents, and more. FiberSense Australia is also seeking to expand into water activity such as leak detection and digging activity as well as into rail infrastructure and undersea power cables.
