Cate Blanchett is the epitome of elegance alongside Natalie Portman and Carla Bruni in Cannes

Cate Blanchett was the epitome of elegance on Friday evening as she turned heads on the Zone Of Interest red carpet in Cannes. 

The Academy Award-winning actress, 54, was stunning in a black-and-white dress, with a cape flowing out behind her. 

She opted for typically subtle make-up including light blush and a rosy lip, while her platinum tresses were neatly pulled back into a bun. 

Her unique ensemble stood out with two sequined silver pockets, allowing her to rest her hands, while a belted waist emphasised her slim frame.  

She was joined by other A-listers including Natalie Portman, who dazzled in a strapless and glittering ombré Chopard dress. 

The Star Wars alum, 41, showed off her taut visage and enviable collarbones in the classy ensemble as she led the stars arriving on the red carpet. 

As her dress was strapless, Natalie chose to accessorise with a tear-drop style choker necklace to further emphasise her slender neck.  

Fashion model Carla Bruni, 55, was also present at the glitzy event, choosing a silver mini dress with a sparkling bodice and a metallic skirt with a train. 

She put on a very leggy display in the short ensemble, which exposed her toned limbs and added inches to her frame with silver heels.  

She radiated beauty as she posed for the cameras but did appear to get caught in her skirt as she attempted to climb the steps.
