Earlier this year, Demi revealed she ‘missed’ how simple her old life used to be before she found fame on the hit dating show Love Island three years ago.
The reality star admitted that ‘everything was perfect and she lived in a bubble’ while she worked in Primark and barely had a social media following.
However, Demi credited the ITV series for helping save her life after viewers urged her to get a lump on her neck checked out which turned out to be cancer.
Speaking on The Secret To Podcast with Vicky Pattison, Demi detailed how her life has changed.
She said: ‘I feel like I’ve lived five lives in the last three years. It’s the weirdest thing. Three and a half years ago I was working in Primark with like a thousand followers and three years later I’ve been on Love Island, have this crazy new job and have been through cancer.
‘It’s definitely been hard. It sounds sad but I miss my old life. Before Love Island everything was fine in my life’.
She continued: ‘I look back to my old life and everything was perfect and I lived in a bubble. As soon as that diagnosis came through of my dad being terminally ill, I had Love Island, the pandemic, cancer, its never felt the same since and I have really high highs and very low lows.’

She was open throughout her journey and revealed it was Love Island viewers who pushed her to get a second opinion in the first place after being told it was nothing to worry about.
She continued: ‘The first time they looked at it they didn’t think it was anything. I went on Love Island and when I came off the show people messaged me and said “I think you need to get this lump checked”.
‘So I thought well if something isn’t right and people are noticing I pushed for a second opinion and thank god I did. It shows how powerful Love Island is and I can’t remember who messaged but thank you it saved me.’
The TV star had two surgeries after doctors found a golf ball sized tumour in her neck and had treatment.
The disease develops in the cells of thyroid, a butterfly-shaped gland found just below Adam’s apple in the neck.

Demi ‘took a break’ from dating for a while but is hoping to get back into the market this year.
She added: ‘For the past year I haven’t met anyone, or gone on dates. I feel like I needed a break I’ve always been dating or with someone and I wanted to go out with the girls and have fun.
‘I’m hoping this year I’ll get back in the dating scene but I’m in no rush. I have a three month rule though. If they don’t make it serious in three months I cut it off because your wasting my time.’
