Eagle-eyed Farmer Wants a Wife fans notice bizarre detail in early promo photo

Keen-eyed Farmer Wants a Wife fans have noticed a bizarre detail in a promotional photo released late last year to promote the 2023 season of the hit dating series.

Viewers took to the FWAW Instagram page to point out the series initially spruiked seven farmers looking for love – which was cut down to five when the show aired.

They pointed out the promo still features profiles of the five farmers featured this season as well as Dylan and Lachy, who were cut before the series premiered.

Fans were divided over what happened to potato farmer Dylan and rancher Lachy and discussed their theories on Facebook.

‘Apparently they couldn’t find matches for them,’ one fan suggested and another said: ‘They must have pulled out from the show before it aired’.

Channel Seven cleared up the confusion in a statement, saying they always intended to only have five farmers on the show, and the other two were simply backups.

‘It is common practice for productions to have backup cast members for many reasons. If a backup farmer’s situation remains the same, he will definitely be considered when casting future seasons,’ they said.

It comes after FWAW came to a dramatic conclusion on Sunday for contestant Lorelei Bates, who fainted after being rejected by Farmer David McMahon.

Lorelei hoped to win David’s heart during the episode, but instead she was rejected, with the country boy telling her she was ‘incredible’ but not for him.

‘I came here to find love and pave a future on the farm and it breaks my heart to have to tell you… I’ve fallen so heavily for someone else,’ he said.

Looking visibly pale, Lorelei began to wobble on her feet, sliding into David’s arms after his declaration.

‘Ah, sorry. I really don’t feel well,’ she confessed in a whisper, before closing her eyes, clearly unwell.

In the end David picked Emily, a 26-year-old special education aide from Queensland.

Meanwhile, in a much less dramatic fashion, Farmer Matt picked Olivia, telling her, ‘I think I’ve known for a while that I have fallen in love with you, and I’m really glad I finally get to say it.’
