EastEnders’ fans ‘work out’ the weapon used by Christmas Day killer

EastEnders’ fans think they’ve worked out the weapon which will be used by the Christmas Day killer. 

Earlier this year, in a special flash forward episode, the soap revealed someone from Albert Square is going to be killed this festive season. 

In Thursday’s show, Linda’s mum Elaine arrived in Albert Square and took over the Queen Vic, with viewers saying the recasting is ‘exactly what the soap needs’. 

And after a showdown with Nish Panesar, Elaine and Linda headed off to bed only to find their pub had been raided and trashed. 

Before the ending, eagle-eyed fans noticed a glass flamingo ornament on the bar hadn’t been smashed.

The flamingo had originally been bought by Nish as a present to Linda as he tried to buy the Queen Vic. 

Now, viewers think the close up shot of the ornament is a telling sign it will be used as part of the explosive Christmas Day storyline. 

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their theories that the flamingo is significant and will become the murder weapon.   

‘That flamingo monument is gonna be the Chekhov’s Gun for the Christmas Day episode, isn’t it?’, one wrote. 

‘I do feel the flamingo will end up being significant,’ another viewer typed. 

A third chimed: ‘That Flamingo is gonna be the murder weapon ain’t it?’, while a fourth viewer added: ‘Last few minutes of Eastenders again. I assume the flamingo figurine is a reference to something but out of context it’s just…there. ‘ 

Linda’s mum has taken over the Queen Vic and viewers took to Twitter to hail the recasting of Elaine after Harriet Thorpe took over the role from Maria Friedman.  

In the show, Elaine told Nish: ‘I’m Elaine. Linda’s Mum and the new co-owner of The Vic. I’m going to make this brief because unlike you, I have a pub to run. I know men like you, men who like a cheap suit but like me tell you something you don’t fool me.’

After Nish made a dig about Linda’s battle with alcoholism, Elaine banned him from her pub. 

Fans think the fact the flamingo wasn’t destroyed was an act of symbolism from Nish. 

One wrote: ‘The flamingo was the only thing not smashed up, making you think it’s either Nish or Vinny that destroyed everything except their present.’

Another viewer added: ‘She got it from Nish. It is a sign from him, the way it is standing like this between the glass fragments.’  

In a special flash forward episode, a man was dead on the floor surrounded by six women –  Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki ( Balvinder Sopal). 

As the women stood over the body, Sharon confirmed he was definitely dead.  

Viewers currently have no idea whether it is murder or an accident but some clues from the scene have revealed possible theories. 

In the coming months, more information will be given before the Christmas Day episode when all will be revealed about who the murderer is and who is dead. 

However, ahead of this BBC fans think they have already worked out who the actual killer is and it is not any of the women. 

One fan wrote on Twitter: ‘#Eastenders I think there will be a secret 7th on Christmas Day, I thought it could have been Eve or Shirley but now I’m starting to think it could be Karen. 

‘When Sharon looks up & says his dead she’s looking at Karen. At the moment I’m thinking Karen hits Nish & kills him’. 

Another added: ‘Suki and Karen need to team up to take down Nish. Karen has been abused herself and knows that Chantelle was also abused. 

‘Suki is between a rock and hard place at the moment with Nish and needs people on her side to bring him down including Eve Karen Stacey etc. #EastEnders.’

Previously EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has teased to ‘expect the unexpected’ with the Christmas scenes.

He said: ‘I’ve already given you a scene from Christmas; I can’t give you anything more, I’m afraid! But what I will say is… expect the unexpected.

‘I’m not going to give anything away that the episode hasn’t already given, but what I will say is there were clues in there.

‘Did you look closely? I urge everyone to re-watch the scene and look at every detail. There’s also a few treats in the scene if you look hard enough. 

‘What I’d also say is that a lot can happen in Walford between February and December.’
