A Scottish cousin of Jock Zonfrillo who bears an uncanny similarity to the TV chef has reflected on his shock death in a simple one word statement.
Paul Zonfrillo went to school with Jock as a boy and is mentioned fondly in his 2021 memoir Last Shot.
But the lookalike cousin is a man of few words when it comes to mourning the death of the young clan member who found global success as a chef and judge on MasterChef Australia.

On Tuesday, Paul took to Facebook to share a heart-wrenching video compilation of various celebrity chefs sharing their memories of the cheeky Scotsman.
‘Sad’, read the simple post attached to the video, alongside a praying emoji.
The video included tributes from internationally acclaimed chefs Jamie Oliver, Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsay which sparked an outpouring of comments from friends and family members.
Jock Zonfrillo’s family is still coming to terms with the celebrity chefs sudden passing
‘Fantastic tributes Paul…. A well liked and respected man… God bless him’ a friend commented
‘Sincere condolences Paul’.
Paul and brother Marco Zonfrillo grew up close to their younger cousin Jock, with all three of them attending Belmont Academy in Ayr, southwest coast of Scotland a few years apart.
Reflecting in his memoir, Jock wrote how he learned at a young age that it wasn’t always easy sharing the surname Zonfrilllo with his older cousins.
Laura and Jock Zonfrillo (pictured) had recently relocated to Rome
‘Asked me if I was related to Paul and Marco. They’d been noted smart-arses, so I tried to convince the teacher that is was a very common Scottish surname and that I’d never heard of the other boys, but he was having none of it.’
‘That really set the tone for the next few years.’ he continued.
Having called Australia home for the last decade, Jock is understood to have had just embarked on an exciting new life in Rome with wife Lauren and the couple’s children before it was tragically cut short in a Melbourne hotel room.
The Masterchef judge had moved to the Italian capital with his young family just three weeks before returning to Australia to help promote the latest season of the Network 10 show.

Lauren rang police from Rome early on Monday morning when Zonfrillo failed to answer multiple calls from his wife.
Officers who attended Zagame’s House at Carlton at about 2am found Zonfrillo dead in his bed and saw no signs of anything suspicious or unusual.
There was no drug paraphernalia located, no one else in the hotel room and police formed the view the father-of-four had died of natural causes.
