Julie Bishop reveals what she really thinks of King Charles after the former Foreign Minister turned heads at his Coronation

Retired Australian politician Julie Bishop has described newly crowned King Charles III as an inspiration.

Appearing on a social media question and answer session for Marie Claire Australia, the 66-year-old former Foreign Minister spoke openly of her warm feelings for the monarch.

‘I admire King Charles,’ Ms Bishop said in the video, adding: ‘I think he’s been an extraordinarily focused King in waiting.’

Ms Bishop can be seen answering questions for the video in a white shirt, and black and white houndstooth trousers.

Elsewhere in the chat, the high profile public figure revealed that a trip to New York for the Met Gala was her number one ‘ultimate travel bucket list’.

‘Surely one year, I’ll get there,’ she added.

Ms Bishop also told fans that her style inspiration was Amal Clooney, wife of Hollywood superstar George Clooney.

‘I love what she wears and whenever she wears it. She’s fabulous,’ she gushed over the glamorous barrister.

Ms Bishop, meanwhile, turned heads at the coronation of King on Saturday in an extravagant Zimmermann ensemble.

She joined Anthony Albanese and other dignitaries from around the world at the historic event in London’s at Westminster Abbey.

Her outfit was made up of a cream two-piece which featured hand-applied 3D flowers with a matching cream fascinator.

Paired with a small Lady Dior handbag and slingback Dior heels, she was so fashionable she ended up in ‘fashion bible’ Women’s Wear Daily.

Amid a crowd of international royals, heads of state, celebrities and the British Royal Family, Ms Bishop’s stunning outfit was a stand-out. 

In a post-Coronation wrap-up aired on 7News on Sunday, Ms Bishop revealed she had met King Charles on a number of occasions and the pair had gotten along well.

She described the King as ‘very charming, very intelligent, exceedingly well briefed on Australian politics, the nuances of politics in this country’.
