Lily Allen has revealed that she hates her old songs so much so that she has banned playing them in her house.

The singer, 37, said she ‘doesn’t actually like it that much’ while appearing on the  Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday – but that she didn’t mind the songs when she wrote them.

Lily – who lives with husband David Harbour and kids Marnie, 10, and Ethel, 11, – also remained coy on whether she would ever write music again or release new tunes during the interview.

Asked by host Jonathan whether she plays her own music at home she responded: ‘Lily Allen is banned in our house. You’re not allowed to.

‘Absolutely not. I don’t really like it that much. I liked it when I wrote it.’

Asked if she’ll make new music again, Lily said that after Glastonbury last year she did re-start recording.

Lily, who shot to fame in the 2000s with her hit single Smile, explained: ‘It sparked something in me. It is quite fun, I am quite good at that. I booked in five weeks in the studio just before Christmas last year.

‘And, it was awful. Nothing really came and everything felt really contrived. It was just not very good. So I’m not going to put any of that out. Maybe one day, we’ll see.’

Elsewhere in the chat she reflected on Glastonbury last summer and performing with superstar Olivia Rodrigo.

Lily said it took her kids by surprise, explaining: ‘I was really nervous. I haven’t done it in a long time, I haven’t done it sober.

‘I don’t really know what I was expecting. It was really, really amazing. People went absolutely ballistic. I was really overwhelmed. My kids were like, ‘What’s going on?’ Olivia is their idol.

‘People were screaming louder for me than her at some points. I got off stage they didn’t really want to talk to me. In the car on the way back, Marnie looked at me, and went, ‘Are you kind of popular then?’ She was like, ‘What, in the charts?’ And I was like, ‘Yes…’

Lily also spoke about how she met her husband, Stranger Things star David while on the chat show.

Sh said: ‘We met on a dating app, called Raya. It was the first time I’d been on this dating app. I was scrolling through and landed on David’s profile and pressed accept. I didn’t know who he was.

‘I thought he was just like a sexy policeman from a reality TV Show. He was wearing a policeman’s uniform. It was a still from Stranger Things. I’d never seen Stranger Things.’

‘I don’t even know what I was looking for. It was just something to do on holiday, swiping, it’s a bit of fun. When I met him I didn’t think it was going to go anywhere. He was here filming Black Widow. He was only going to be here for a couple of months. And then it did [go somewhere].’

She added of their attraction: ‘I’d say it was pretty instant actually. He was sitting underneath a clock.

‘It was a little bit like that moment in Titanic, when he [Jack] turns around under the clock. It was a little bit like that for me.’

Lily has recently been promoting her new Sky comedy-drama series Dreamland.

The star has ventured into the world of acting and is making her TV debut in the new comedy series alongside co-star and Doctor Who alum Freema Agyeman.

Lily appeared on This Morning on Wednesday to speaking about her new show, she said: ‘This just felt light and positive which is not how my life has felt.

‘It’s my way into acting and it feels authentic with the female cast. The energy in the room was so kind and generous and it didn’t really hit me it was because there were no men.

‘Coming from live music it is so male heavy, men construct the sets etc when your traveling and it was nice to experience something different.’

She also discussed her four years of sobriety during an appearance on the ITV show.

The singer has been candid about her addiction struggles, previously revealing the last time she consumed alcohol was July 28 2019.

Lily told presenters Holly Willoughby and Joel Dermott: ‘It is weird. My life has changed so much.

‘I’m four years clean and sober, I have a new husband, we’re sorting our lives out in America.’

Lily has always been open about her drink and drug abuse, particularly when she released her memoir My Thoughts Exactly in 2020.

In 2018, she came under fire for glamourising drug-taking after admitting she snorted a line of ketamine at the Glamour Woman Of The Year Awards in 2008.

Describing what happened, Allen said: ‘Someone gave me a line of what I assumed to be cocaine at the Glamour awards once, but it turned out to be Ketamine. I was thrown out (passed over some railings) of the Glamour awards for being in a k hole.’

She added: ‘Obviously I couldn’t talk, or direct the driver so my assistant instructed the occupant of the car behind to ‘follow that cab’ I believe the occupant was @chattyman I have no idea what happened next.’
