MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin reveals her strangest career highlight: ‘I screamed and threw my phone’

MasterChef Australia Star Julie Goodwin has shared the most thrilling moment of her career – and it’s a surprising one.

The 52-year-old tells Yahoo Australia that working with infamous Muppet Kermit the Frog left her screaming in joy.

The cook was working on the Today show at the time, and got a phone call telling her: ‘Oh, you’re cooking with Kermit the Frog tomorrow’.

‘I screamed and threw my phone, I had to go find the phone, and I started to cry. I love Kermit the Frog, I’ve always loved Kermit the Frog’ she said.

‘I used to play The Rainbow Connection to my pregnant belly for all three of my babies. And the next day I went and I cooked with Kermit the Frog.’

She went on: ‘I completely forgot there was a human being under the desk, it was just me and my little green friend and I just thought, look at me!

‘If you could have told my 4, 5, 6-year-old self that one day I’d be next to Kermit the Frog having a chat with him, I just don’t even know what I would have done. I wouldn’t have believed it.’

Julie was dubbed a ‘national treasure’ by fans, after first winning the show back in 2009.

‘I couldn’t be more grateful to MasterChef. It’s been a huge part of my life’ she said upon her departure.
