‘I still have fond memories of that whole experience. I mean, not that particular scene, but the whole experience I have fond memories of,’ Madden said.

Speaking of his new series Citadel, Madden added, ‘It’s nice to be back into recurring series drama where you get so much time to tell a story, and the you get these huge payoffs like that, three seasons deep, we got to have this horrible death with characters that you’re invested in.’

‘I think that’s our ambition here too, to create a huge world and get to know these people well,’ Madden added.

When asked if there are any genres he’d like to explore that he previously hadn’t, Madden said he’d like to try some lighter movies.

‘I’d like to do something in comedy. It’s nice to not… I mean we go to work every day and we’re like, “You’re gonna die today!” I’m like, can I do something fun for a minute,” Madden said.

Madden and Chopra star in Citadel as secret agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, two former spies from the Citadel agency whose memories were wiped before barely escaping with their lives.

They have lived hidden for years from Manticore, which dismantled Citadel, though they’re tracked down by a former colleague (Stanley Tucci) who needs their help to take down Manticore.

Chopra recently opened up about getting equal pay alongside Madden for the first time in her career in an interview with Marie Claire.

‘If your contribution, time and what you bring to the table is the same as your male counterpart, there is a very serious conversation to be had about compensation,’ she said.

‘It was not a conversation I was encouraged to have for a very long time because it was just a given when I started out in movies that your male counterpart would have a substantially larger pay cheque.  I think my generation of female actors really stood up for themselves,’ she added.

Priyanka, who is married to Joe Jonas, added that Bollywood stars including Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif have ‘really pushed the envelope’.

She also praised Mindy Kaling for writing her own shows after not being cast, while also lauding  Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, Nicole Kidman for creating roles for themselves.

She also opened up in another interview with ETimes that her and Madden would help protect each other from unflattering angles in their sex scenes.

‘We helped each other out. If I was uncomfortable with some unflattering camera angles, I would tell him “Put your hand there and cover me” and he would tell me “You put your hand here,”‘ she said.

Madden added, ‘I suppose we got to know each other through working together on the script, though these fight rehearsals we’d have to do together, and trying to kind of thread a narrative through this action and try and keep intricacies and subtleties of human beings amidst all of this spectacle that the show has. That just comes from lots of hard work.

‘We like each other, so that makes it really easy. It puts us in a place where when we’re on screen, we can create and have fun together.’

Priyanka added: ‘We were both prep-oriented. We were both really particular and intentional and I was like, “Thank God! It’s so nice to work with someone who does that.”‘
