‘I love being around her… but I have to behave myself!’ Ronnie O’Sullivan credits ‘supportive’ partner Laila Rouass for giving his life balance after rekindling romance
Ronnie O’Sullivan has credited girlfriend Laila Rouass for giving his life a greater degree of balance after reconciling with the actress following a brief separation.
The legendary snooker player, 47, originally embarked on a relationship with former Hollyoaks star Rouass in 2012 before confirming their engagement the following year.
But in 2022, Rouass, 51 – a mother to 17-year old daughter Inez from a former relationship with businessman Nasir Khan – announced the engagement was off.
Within weeks however, the couple were reunited – and the characteristically dour O’Sullivan insists they are happier than ever.
‘It’s good,’ he told the Mirror. ‘She’s great. I love her. She’s great company and I love being around her.
‘She’s very supportive. I have to behave myself. I know when to go, ‘”Alright, you’re in charge”. But she’s also really good at going, “Listen, you’ve got a busy life, you’ve got a lot to do, just get on with it”‘.

He added: ‘Now it feels a lot better – everyone’s just in a better place. I just want to see her and her daughter happy, and her family, who are like my family, happy.’
After well documented struggles with substance and alcohol addiction, the snooker player also credits the tightly-knit Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous community for helping him find inner-peace.
‘I went to AA and NA, I learned about addiction and struggled for about three or four years, because I just couldn’t accept that I was an addict,’ he added.
‘Now I don’t question it, whereas before, I’d go out and try to drink sensibly and fail miserably. So now, I think, don’t even start. They say if you stand outside the barber’s long enough, eventually you’ll get a haircut.
‘So I stay away from clubs, from people that drink. They’re not for me, because eventually that will be me.’

Appearing on ITV1 show Loose Women in April 2022, Rouass told the panel how she had ‘manifested’ O’Sullivan back into her life.
She said: ‘Me and Ronnie are back together, we found our way back. We just worked it out – back when I announced it, we hadn’t been together for almost eight months at that time.’
‘He texted me and said: ‘tell them you manifested me back into your life.’
She added: ‘Talking is so underrated. If you can sit down and say how you feel and what you want – when you get older that is much easier to say too.’
‘He recently has been feeling flat since getting back from work, we are manifesting good thoughts and it works. He uses self compassion.’
Two months earlier the actress confirmed that she and the six-time world snooker champion had gone their separate ways after almost a decade together – but didn’t give a reason why.
She tweeted: ‘After nearly ten years of love and memories, Ronnie I have parted ways. Peace and love to you all. Laila X (sic).’
