The Bachelor’s Matty ‘J’ Johnson and Laura Byrne have opened up about married life in a new interview after tying the knot last November. 

Speaking to WHO Magazine, the newly married couple, who share two daughters, confessed that life after marriage feels surprisingly unchanged.

‘Our life together as a couple is exactly the same! It’s so funny. I know some people say that things really change once they’re married… but for us, having our girls was that for us,’ Laura said.

Matty and Laura are now eagerly planning their honeymoon for July.

They’ve chosen the idyllic destination of Fiji for their romantic getaway, and their adorable girls are coming along for the adventure.

‘We made sure the resort has a really great kids’ club!’ Laura explained.

‘It’s our first major overseas holiday as a family, so we’d both have been really upset if the girls weren’t there,’ Matty added.

‘Life with them is the best, and we didn’t want them to miss out – but there’ll definitely be some juggling of kids’ club time for them and Piña colada sipping for us!’ 

When questioned about the possibility of expanding their brood, the couple didn’t dismiss the idea.

‘I always saw us having three kids one day, so there’s a part of me that thinks that could still happen. I love being a mum, and Matt’s such an amazing dad, so the door is not completely shut,’ Laura said.

However, she acknowledged that time waits for no one and circumstances could change. ‘While I’m 37 now, by the time I’m 39, I might have changed my mind, or, of course, be unable to have another baby.’

Laura and Matty are one of the most successful couples to come out of the show, but the brunette beauty told the I’ve Got News For You podcast it almost didn’t happen because she got ‘cold feet’ the day before filming was set to begin in 2017.

‘I had a change of heart and almost didn’t rock up for filming,’ she admitted.

The pair welcomed daughters Marlie-Mae in 2019 and Lola in February, 2021. They got engaged while on holiday in Fiji in April 2018.
