When Selling Sunset premiered on Netflix in March 2019, Christine Quinn rapidly became one of its breakout stars.
The smash hit reality show follows the explosive feuds of a young, beautiful group of realtors at a luxe brokerage called the Oppenheim Group.
Proud of her status as the resident ‘villain’, Christine instantly established herself as a compulsively watchable presence – though some viewers were so outraged at her antics that she claimed she had to install a tiger on her property for security.
By last August, however, Christine shocked the public by announcing she was leaving both Selling Sunset and the Oppenheim Group.
Now, as season six bows on Netflix without her, DailyMail.com reveals why the blonde bombshell walked away from the gig that made her a household name:

CLAWS OUT FOR THE CO-STARS
Christine made herself an unmissable character on Selling Sunset with her reliably venomous comments about the rest of the cast.
Some of her sharpest barbs were reserved for Chrishell Stause, who at one point was dating Jason Oppenheim, the president of their brokerage.
Christine at various stages described Chrishell as having a ‘victim mentality,’ being a ‘kiss-a**,’ acting ‘fake’ and acquiring listings by ‘f***ing’ their boss.
‘Seriously, that b**** should f***ing own a Sunglass Hut, ’cause she’s so f***ing shady,’ Christine fumed during one tirade about her nemesis.
Meanwhile, Chrishell accused Christine in Vulture of attempting ‘to plant a false story when I was going through my divorce, and I had to have both sides confirm that it wasn’t true, and then threaten legal action.’
Before her relationship with Jason, Chrishell was married to This Is Us heartthrob Justin Hartley – and the emotional rollercoaster she went through when their relationship fell apart was captured on camera for Selling Sunset.
Christine has also locked swords with her co-star Emma Hernan, who has accused her of bribing one of Emma’s clients to leave her – a claim Christine denies.
Mary Fitzgerald, who was personally close to Christine before Selling Sunset, saw their bond fray during their time on the series.
Even Heather Rae Young, whom Christine was largely friendly with, got it in the jugular for ‘the lack of wheels turning up there.’
Christine regarded her acid tongue as a sign that she was honest, saying: ‘Only my t***s are fake. Like, I’m not fake.’

LAP OF LUXURY
Christine became as notorious for her creature comforts as she did for her savage rivalries with her co-stars.
While planning her engagement party she breezily explained that she wanted a ‘casual’ affair and then, by way of example, expressed a desire to have a live zebra on hand and fly in Cirque Du Soleil performers from Las Vegas.
Her wedding to retired tech entrepreneur Christian Richard was a Gothic-themed blowout that saw the bride decked out in a screamingly camp black dress.
Real snow was sprayed around the winter wonderland event, which included live swans and black stallions as well as a bleeding wedding cake with a gargoyle on top.
One wedding fixture she went without, however, was speeches, as ‘the last thing I wanna see is people crying, wheezing, sneezing in their f***ing beige dresses and s***, swaying ’cause they’re too drunk. I don’t wanna do it!’
Her extravagance as a hostess at one point led her to throw a ‘burgers and Botox’ bash where her girlfriends could indulge in both.

THREATS, LIES AND A VERY TROUBLED PREGNANCY
After getting death threats because of the show she told the Daily Star in 2020 that she had enlisted a tiger as part of her home security detail.
In spite of her circumstances she said she was ‘thankful to be in this position. You’re only hated if you’ve done something great. That’s how I like to look at it.’
Adding to the pressure, while Christine was finishing up a season of Selling Sunset, she went into early labor and had to have an emergency cesarean.
Christine and her husband welcomed a baby son called Christian in May 2021 – but his arrival was preceded by a troubled pregnancy.
She later gave an interview to ET Canada where she frankly discussed having postpartum depression on the shoot of Selling Sunset.
To make matters worse, the show was edited to hide her pregnancy and Christine had to cope with blowback from viewers as a result.
They edited me from you know, the boobs up so I got a lot of backlash on social media saying: “I can’t believe you’re doing yoga two weeks after giving birth after having an emergency C-section,”‘ she said.
She added that she was treated in an ‘extremely hurtful’ way by her co-stars despite being ‘absolutely’ open with them and the producers about her troubles.
‘They make fun of the fact of me being late in the show. “Oh, Christine’s late. Oh, Christine’s late,”‘ she told the outlet.
‘And it’s because I was literally having panic attacks and I was worried about my pregnancy and something going wrong because every time I was working, I was walking into work. It was a lion’s den and these girls were pitted against me. And it was really, really difficult.’
Christine’s water broke prematurely while she was shooting Selling Sunset, propelling her to a turbulent delivery in which both she and the baby nearly died.
‘Hyperventilating from the excruciating pain, I was immediately rushed in to an emergency crash C-section due to both our heart rates instantly plummeting. Baby C umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck,’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘Baby C was seconds away from not making it. The surgeons didn’t even have time to count their tools before stitching me up as I was flatlining.’

BRIBERY ALLEGATIONS AND THE GREAT ESCAPE
Christine’s drama on Selling Sunset came to a head on the fifth season when she denied her co-star Emma Hernan’s allegations that she bribed a client.
The sensational accusation was that Christine deployed a third party to offer the client $5,000 to stop using Emma for a realtor.
‘Accusing someone of a criminal tort is not only defamatory – but you can’t afford my lawyers,’ Christine told People in response.
‘So it’s not a funny thing to say. I would never bribe a client. I’ve never bribed a client. I don’t need to bribe a client, because they’ll work with me organically.’
By a few months later, last August, a TMZ report had revealed that Christine had decided to leave the reality show that made her a star.
It emerged that she had in fact decided to ditch the Oppenheim Group in April 2022 so she could start a crypto real estate brokerage with her husband.
‘I terminated my contract when the brokerage launched. I had to make a business decision that was for me, so I had to terminate the contract so I could move it over to my brokerage,’ she told People last August.
A few months later Jason, who had been a target of Christine’s bile for his romance with Chrishell, told Page Six that viewers were ‘tired’ of Christine and that her departure ‘provided a breath of fresh air for the office and for the show.’
On a reunion episode of Selling Sunset he tellingly remarked that ‘if she changes her behavior’ Christine might be allowed back into the Oppenheim Group, ‘but I have to say right now there isn’t a place’ for her at the company.

SO WHAT DOES CHRISTINE SAY?
In the run-up to the sixth season – the first without Christine – she revealed she refuses to watch Selling Sunset because she feels it presents a distorted image of her friends.
‘I have my girls that I absolutely love, and I’m so supportive of them. But for me, I don’t think I’ll watch the show just because I want to know them for who they are and not what they’re edited to be,’ she spilled to E! News.
Christine also revealed that she is no longer ‘actually on bad terms’ with Chrishell, despite their fractious equation on the show.
When Christine tweeted to Chrishell that she was ‘open to reconciliation,’ Chrishell liked the post, leading to what Christine has described as ‘a cute little convo. So, who knows what the future holds?’
