Coronation Street fans rejoiced as Abi Franklin finally believed Amy Barlow had in fact been raped by mechanic Aaron Sandford on Monday. 

Despite Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine) previously believing her lodger and employee’s innocence, his recent behaviour and Amy’s defiance changed her mind.

Abi sheepishly headed to the Barlow’s where she was met with a frosty reception from Tracey (Kate Ford) before sitting down for a heart to heart with daughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney).

The teen recalled the horrifying and graphic details of Aaron’s (James Craven) attack before an emotional Abi apologised for not having doubted her’.

Taking to Twitter one fan wrote: ‘Has Abi finally removed her rose tinted glasses now?’.

It comes after  viewers were left horrified after Ryan Connor developed life-threatening sepsis during Friday’s episode. 

The DJ (played by Ryan Prescott) who was left with life-changing injuries after a horrific acid attack, has failed to call an ambulance despite the wound on his arm showing signs of infection.

Ryan was pelted with a glass full of acid after stepping in between Daisy Midgeley and her stalker Justin – who originally intended to attack the barmaid.

After he overheard Daisy (Charlotte Jordan) telling fiancé Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) she couldn’t wait to ditch him, Ryan’s problems only worsened as the infection left him unconscious. 

Racing to Twitter fans begged for the character to phone an ambulance, while others were sure he had developed sepsis. 

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused when the body releases chemicals to fight an infection. 

These chemicals damage the body’s own tissues and organs and can lead to shock, organ failure and death. 

One wrote: ‘Ryan should call the ambulance ASAP. He could die from sepsis if he isn’t given antibiotics’.

With a second adding:  ‘Ryan, get to hospital quickly, It’s looking very septic to me’.

After Ryan left a message for Daisy’s alter ego Crystal, she rushed to his flat terrified by what she might find.

Joined by Debbie (Sue Devaney) they discovered him cold and unconscious before finally dialling 999.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
