Inside the wild rumour about a ‘mystery Melbourne socialite’ who ‘stalks’ and ‘ogles’ waiters at a trendy French restaurant from her BMW while glugging champagne from a hip flask

Handsome waiters at the elusive France-Soir restaurant flee when the mysterious ‘South Yarra stalker’ arrives.

Or at least that’s the rumour tearing through Melbourne’s elite social circles.

A well-known socialite, who remains nameless, has apparently taken a liking to the attractive servers and is known to ‘ogle’ them over a bottle of champagne.

Donning oversized Versace sunglasses, the leering lurker has even been known to sit in her BMW to watch the staff, reports the Herald Sun.

The stalker has become infamous amongst the bistro’s staff and regular customers, who have been warned to avoid her at all costs.

‘Don’t make eye contact whatever you do, and no sudden movements. Sometimes she comes it,’ one anonymous patron said.

Spotted drinking martinis and champagne straight from the bottle, the mystery woman has been known to bring her own hip flask to the restaurant as well.

Her harassment includes heckling customers from the bar and sneaking in through the back door when she has been locked out.

The famous French brasserie, owned by Jean-Paul Prunetti, opened in 1986 and has hosted all manner of the rich and famous.

Notable customers include Bruce Springsteen to Tom Jones. Even British rock star Mick Jagger was once turned away at the door for not having a reservation.

In January, the son of trucking tycoon Lindsay Fox was spotted out the front coming to the rescue of a woman involved in a violent street brawl.

The fight took place at about 8pm one Tuesday night directly outside France-Soir, a popular spot in the trendy South Yarra neighbourhood.

Footage showed a woman exchanging punches with a man while several others also traded blows.
