NASA’s INTERNET SPEED AT ITS SPECIALITY

NASA is the national aeronautics and space administration which is the independent agency located in the United States of America, works towards aerospace research. The internet is the most blessing in our today’s society and the entire world can’t stay without that internet. The internet has made our world so easy. NASA strives to form a colony on Mars or any other planet which is suitable for human colonization is like global warming. So, here on this page, we will discuss the internet speed of NASA. We can say that it’s obvious for research purposes NASA doesn’t use broadband connections like common people.

Mr. Patrick Pichette has announced that the tech giant might bring 10 gigabits per second of internet speed to American homes which came out to be the hypothetical situation for all of us. ESnet short for energy science network that is a set of private networks that has demonstrated cross-country data transfers of 91 gigabits per second-highest internet speed in NASA. ESnet cannot be used in home networks for some of the works such as sending emails, surfing the internet, browsing websites, etc. but make sure this is the important tool for researchers who deal in massive amounts of data generated by several projects like the human genome project, large hadrons collider, etc. this can be used for trading scientific data via an ultra-fast network.

NASA transferred the files in between Goddard and the University of Utah over ESnet in 2012 at the speed of 98 gigabytes per second. Alcatel-lucent and BT obliterated that record earlier in 2014 with a 1.4 terabit connection in between London and Ipswich. In both cases, these two locations had a direct connection and it’s found that NASA’s internet speed 2020 is 91Gbps.

So, now let’s discuss the NASA download speed and this is about 91 gigabytes per second.

Some of the information for NASA internet speed  are as:-

  • The Internet speed of NASA is 91 Gigabytes which is equal to 11.375 gigabytes.
  • This 91 Gbps was tested in this connection of the shadow network.
  • This is one of the best secured and reliable networks
  • 13000 times faster rather than a normal network connection.
  • NSA experimented with finding out the maximum speed that the file transfer between two computers placed just a small distance away can attain.

The network which NASA used is known as a Shadow network and shadow network is similar to the internet but this is meant to connect only a few organizations and research facilities across the world. This is used for sharing data related t the science experiments. This is why this shadow network is also well known as an energy science network or simply ESnet. The simplest way to understand this shadow or energy science network is to see the local network of offices, colleges, and schools.

Now the question is that why NASA’S internet is so fast? Is there any special reason behind this or what? The space agency uses the shadow network which is a set of private pipes and has demonstrated cross-country data transfers of 91 gigabytes per second the fastest of its type ever reported.

Now a day’s WIFI is also one of the most essential things which are required in our daily work or study etc. in our world, Hungary gets the first position for public WIFI. Then comes the name of Denmark and the United Kingdom where WIFI is so faster. NASA is the developing, long term technology demonstration by which the high-speed internet can be created in the sky. This particular experiment is also using in the ESnet that allows the file transfer speeds up to 100 gigabits per second. This delivers economic and social impacts that can benefit the nation today.

The WIFI that NASA uses is downright slow. So, there is WIFI in the space station as well. Although there has WIFI  is not connected to the internet as such. This is also known as NAIS which has been hailed by the GAO as an effective mechanism for disseminating procurement information to the end of the story even including the small businesses.

So, how can we get NASA internet?

  1. First, select the “nasabyod” wireless network from your personal device’s list of available networks.
  2. When prompted, enter your NDC user ID and password.
  3. For accessing the internal sites, you will need to connect to JSC’s virtual network.
