During the star studded evening in Cannes, Harrison Ford and his wife Calista Flockhart were an image of happiness as he signed autographs for fans after the fifth and final installment in the Indiana Jones franchise made its much-anticipated premiere.
The star, 80, and his TV star wife, 58, looked happier than ever as they were greeted by fans despite the fact the movie has been met with lukewarm reviews from critics.
A host of critics rushed to rate the movie following Thursday’s release, however some less than flattering views have been published, including The Time branding the movie: ‘A meandering, frequently enervating yawn’.
The reviews did not seem to be bothering the couple, as they strutted out of the event with beaming smiles and elegant waves for admirers.
Harrison is joined on-screen by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also co-wrote the movie, while the rest of cast includes the likes of Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen.
Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny, with a budget of $300 million, is scheduled to hit theaters across the US on June 30, yet does not seem to be thrilling many.
Some of the more cutting reviews include The Telegraph’s two-star stance on the film, reading: ‘It ultimately feels like a counterfeit of priceless treasure: the shape and the gleam of it might be superficially convincing for a bit, but the shabbier craftsmanship gets all the more glaring the longer you look.’
With another two star rating, The Times’ reviewer wrote: ‘A meandering, frequently enervating yawn, this fifth and most expensive Indy outing yet (about $300 million) is a curious demonstration of how a Hollywood studio can fire nearly a third of a billion bucks at late 20th century nostalgia and get it so wrong.’

Not too sure? The fifth and final installment in the Indiana Jones franchise made its much-anticipated premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes on Thursday
Set in 1969 amid the backdrop of the Space Race, Dr.Jones, renowned archaeologist and adventurer, finds himself uneasy over the U.S. government’s recruitment of former Nazis to help beat the Soviet Union in the competition to make it to space.
For this go-around, Indy’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw (Waller-Bridge), accompanies him on his new journey, while Jürgen Voller (Mikkelsen), a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the moon-landing program, wishes to make the world into a better place as he sees fit.
The franchise began more than 43 years ago with Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981).
Directed by Stephen Spielberg from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, and based on a story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman, Raiders was a massive hit with fans, grossing $389.9 million on a $20 million budget.
The Temple of Doom (1984) served as the first sequel, and went on to score big at the box office once again, raking in $333.1 million against a budget of $28.17 million.
It would be five years until the The Last Crusade (1989) dropped, and the fans reciprocated by topping the previous two versions, earning $474.2 million with a $48 million budget.
More than 19 years passed until the fourth installment, The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (2008), premiered in theaters.
It slaughtered all three installments at the box office, grossing a whopping $790.7 million on a budget that shot to $185 million.
‘Indiana Jones movies are about fantasy and mystery, but they’re also about heart. ‘We have a really great story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your a**,’ he said after the screening.
